May Member Of The Month

Hajar Delshad is our West End Community Center member of the month!

"Moving to Boston in 2008 with an 8 week-old baby was an extremely difficult time for myself and my family," Hajar reflects. "Thankfully, I found the West End Community Center and the West End Parents' group. Immediately, there was a network of support and guidance that was available to me from our amazing neighbors. Weekly playgroups helped me build a circle of friends, playmates for my daughter, and invaluable tips on everything 'Boston.' We have been cherished memories as members of the WECC, from the Children's Festival and Halloween party, to Bollywood classes....living here has been an enriching experience in itself."
 
In addition to being an active participant at the community center, Hajar is a Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery at Children's Hospital Boston. She is walking for CHB in June with her husband Khalid, a Physician at Tufts Medical Center, and 2-year old daughter Sophie.  "My fundraising efforts will benefit the Pediatric Transplant Center. Since it's inception in 2006, over 200 children have received lung, heart, kidney, liver,  or intenstinal transplants," says Delshad. Hajar needs your suppport on this 2 mile walk along the Charles River on June 13, 2010! Funds will directly impact children, buy equipment, supplies, deliver medical care, drive investigational research, and even keep kids entertained during lengthy hospitalizations.
