ABCD Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon Recap

The ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NE/WE NSC) held its annual Thanksgiving luncheon on Friday, November 20th. Over 75 members of the community, nearly all of them seniors from the neighborhoods, came to the center at 1 Michelangelo Street in the North End to enjoy salad, turkey, potato, vegetables, and apple pie. Special guests included Kathy Carangelo from City Councilor Sal La Mattina's office and Mary Guarino, President of Church on the Hill.

This year the NE/WE NSC has seen an increase in the need for turkeys and food donations to provide holiday meals and holiday baskets for seniors. They remain especially thankful to elected officials, businesses, and donors for their support.

Turkey donations and deliveries included 20 turkeys from Representative Aaron Michlewitz, Senator Anthony Petruccelli, and City Councilor La Mattina; gift cards for turkeys and holiday baskets from City Councilor Josh Zakim; 12 turkeys, 12 apple pies, and tins of cookies from La Famiglia Giorgio's; 20 turkeys from Church on the Hill; 24 turkeys from the Greater Boston Food Bank; and 30 turkeys from Greg Antonelli, President, of GTA Co., Inc.

They extend heartfelt thanks for the following community food drives: the Old West Church, Regina Cleri, Strada 234, Vantage Travel, the West End Civic Association, and Whole Foods Market. There are many more in progress!

Simply put, with the outpouring of love, support, and kindness from their communities, the NE/WE NSC provided nourishment for the body and soul to all who knocked on their doors for a Thanksgiving feast or other assistance. Without you, none of this would have been possible. The NE/WE NSC extends its deepest thanks to you! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
