About the West End Community Center

The West End Community Center (WECC) is a nonprofit organization located in Boston’s historic West End. The Center operates a neighborhood gathering place dedicated to serving residents of the West End and surrounding communities. Through programs, services, and events, WECC responds to the diverse interests and needs of the neighborhood while creating opportunities for residents to connect, learn, and participate in community life.

MISSION
To improve the quality of life in the West End by providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe community space that offers multigenerational programs and a gateway for services. We offer educational and cultural programs that strengthen connection, promote engagement, and facilitate shared experiences across ages.

HISTORY
The West End Community Center was incorporated in late 2007, emerging from the West End Civic Association. The organization grew from the West End Children’s Festival into a range of programs and neighborhood events that brought residents together and reflected the community’s strong desire for a dedicated gathering place. After years of advocating for a permanent location, an effort by the City Councilor Kenzie Bok, State Representative Jay Livingstone, and Mass General Brigham brought a new location to fruition.

In 2025, WECC reopened at 75 Blossom Court, restoring a long-anticipated gathering space for the neighborhood. Since reopening, the Center has begun rebuilding its programming and community presence through multigenerational activities, cultural events, wellness classes, and opportunities for neighbors to connect.

WECC is joined by Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) and the West End Civic Association (WECA), located along the scenic Thoreau Path within the West End Neighborhood Center building providing a central, accessible place for community activity.
