About the West End Community Center

The West End Community Center (WECC) is an independent, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization located in the West End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The WECC was established in January 2008 by the West End Civic Association with the primary goal of providing multi-generational programming and services to meet the diverse social, educational, cultural, and recreational needs of individuals and families working and residing in the West End. Through quality programs, collaborative partnerships, and volunteer support, the WECC seeks to build and foster a strong sense of urban community and improve the quality of life for residents of all ages.

The WECC is currently located in a spacious 1,300 sq. ft. center at One Congress Street, with easy access to the Haymarket train station and Government Center parking garage. With the generous support of our sponsors, the WECC has been able to offer a wide variety of events and programs to the community over the years, including:

  • Family & Youth Programs: Youth dropping-in, family game days, movie nights, annual Halloween Parade, soccer classes (hosted by Super Soccer Stars), etiquette classes (hosted by The Etiquette Academy)

  • Fitness Classes: Yoga, Zumba

  • Health & Wellness Support Groups: Low vision, diabetes, co-dependents anonymous

  • Seminars: Computer repair and set up, legal advice, health education (hosted by Boston Children’s Hospital), senior medical information (hosted by Tufts Medical), and retirement strategies (hosted by TD Bank)

  • Part-Time Facilities Lending: West End Civic Association, Downtown North Association, Boston Police District A

  • Special Interests Groups: Holistic Moms, Dining Club, Book Club, Foreign Film Club, Quilting Group, Knit & Sew Club, Painting Group, Political Club

      And more!

Furthermore, the WECC has continued its tradition of hosting an adult, co-ed summer softball league, as well as its popular, free, family event, the West End Children’s Festival. This past August, the community celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the West End Children’s Festival, with over 1,500 attendees and the generous support of over 75 participating businesses and organizations.

The WECC aims to continue offering a variety of youth and adult programs and strives to collaborate with the community in our efforts to diversify our programming. Please email us using the form below if you have an idea for a future program, service, or event or if you represent a local organization and would like to co-program with the WECC.
